The site, located in the heart of West Concord, is dissected by two small but regionally significant waterways. The studio site included Downtown West Concord, a defunct office park, a residential/light industrial area and a Massachusetts State Prison. The program requirements included 100 units of affordable housing, a satellite campus to house a criminal justice program for Northeastern University and a multipurpose field. Particular attention was placed on a proposed rail trail, on-site storm water remediation and the Assabet River corridor as a habitat connector. I proposed a series of bioswales for downtown that would act as a signifier, as well as, reinforce the downtown structure, filtrate storm water, and vegetate the area. The West Concord Studio was completed through group work entirely using a metric scale. The studio critics nominated this project for the Harvard GSD Studio Works publication.
